Microsoft has launched an experimental new advertising campaign

The new campaign features actor Dean Cain (former Superman from TV's Lois and Clark) in a series of mock-PSAs, advertising the launch of Internet Explorer 8. Produced by Indiana-based ad agency Bradley and Montgomery, the commercials try hard to be funny in spots like S.H.Y.N.E.S.S. ("Sharing Heavily Yet Not Enough Sharing Still") poking fun at web users who over-share lolcats, while going for the gross-out factor in O.M.G.I.G.P. ("Oh My God I'm Gonna Puke") featuring a woman who's accidently seen her partner's obscene browser history.

Currently, Microsoft is only airing the ads online (seen on Hulu), but may consider broader broadcast depending on the public's reception. With IE's shrinking user base, especially among the tech-savvy, its clear Microsoft is hoping the ads will gain a viral audience online.

Humanizing Technologies

There is an Indianapolis, IN based company called Humanizing Technologies that is making information relevant to their users. Humanizing Technologies software tools save time, enable customization of the online experience and improve the relevancy of information for specific interests. Humanizing Technologies provides the benefit of customization over personalization.

You might be wondering, "How do they do this?". Well, they have combined flexible portals for user dashboards, integrated a concept search to improve the relevance & speed of information retrieval as well as provided a gadgets interface to mobilize any content from any web site.

I haven't personally used their product YET, but anticipate being able to provide a full overview of lifepage before the end of June, 2009. Humanizing Technologies is offering a free 45 day trial of lifepage, however they are currently (from what I have been able to tell thus far) only supporting Internet Explorer based browsers (sorry for all you Mac & Linux users) - but I anticipate that changing in the near future.

Small Business Billing Software

Wow, 1/2 way through 2009 already. And my company KS Design, LLC wouldn't have made it without the EnterYourHours.com Hourly billing software system. Production is up, time spent on doing payroll is down, and our stress level has really been sub-dued.

I mean, small business billing software is as important to a small business as gigantic ERP software is to a large corporation. While large corporations (over 100 employees) will probably source their software among large ERP solutions like PeopleSoft, Great Plain, MAS, and others, EnterYourHours.com can provide most of these core small business billing functions to small and medium businesses alike. This is why I prefer to use EnterYourHours.com because they give me the ability to operate like a large corporation, with the overhead of a small business.

We are able to track employee hours, expenses, apply discounts, and many other features (which can be found here). If you are a small business owner, and are looking for an hourly invoicing solution, then you have to check out EnterYourHours.com. You can even get a FREE 14 day trial, so why not?

Fantastic set of developer tools for ASP.Net & Silverlight development

So, for all you developers out there that ready my blog this one is especially for you. KS Design was has been, over the past year, evaluating a suite of controls for development of a high end C# ASP.Net application.

Many of you might know that designing an application is never an easy chore with "out of the box" Microsoft tools, therefore we started looking for a suite of controls that could not only meet our needs, but provide a swift integration, as well as an elegant look, with little or no customizations.

Well, we found em, and they are wonderful. Thanks to the .Net Rocks podcast, which we listen to regularly, we looked into Telerik's Suite of RadControls for ASP.Net. These controls have made our lives so much easier, and thanks to Telerik's well put together help system we are able to reference code samples and find general help on their controls, making integration to our ASP.Net applicaiton very painless.

KS Design was even able to take an existing C# application written in .Net 2.0 and upgrade it to work with .Net 3.5 (because we like to stay on top of frameworks) and then swap out controls like standard text boxes, calendars, data grids, drop downs and more with the Telerik RadControls for ASP.Net in a matter of a few days. These controls truly have saved us time, money, and a number of head aches.

Check out KSDesignServices.com and navigate around our site, we use the Telerik RadControls for ASP.Net to handle navigation, panel bars for services we offer, as well as multimedia controls for our portfolio.

You can also check out Telerik's Demo site for a full viewing of what you can do, right out of the box, using the Telerik RadControls for ASP.Net You can watch a sample video here.

If you don't use them, you should. And if you do use them, you have made a wise investment and will not be disappointed.

Hourly Billing Software with easy integration to Quickbooks

So, here we are, a quarter of the way through 2009. New clients calling, economy stabalizing, and most important of all.... TAXES. That's right, taxes, well, why not make your tax filing experience a simple one?

Yes, you heard me right. Kyle here back at it again, with another great praise about EnterYoursHours.com's online hourly billing software. These guys, have truly made it SIMPLE to do taxes. How you might say? Well, I am a small business owner, and keeping track of invoices, billing, and employees was a real battle for me. EnterYourHours.com really made it easy to do taxes this year.

How you might be asking? Well just like this:

EnterYourHours.com integrates directly into QuickBooks. My company has no need, at this time, for the full blown QuickBooks Standard Edition, so we use Intuit's QuickBooks SimpleStart version, and EnterYourHours.com hooked right up to it. It was beautiful!!!! EnterYourHours.com's QuickBooks Solution was done so well, they have become a certified Silver Developer for QuickBooks.

I followed their tutorial, and hooked right up. QuickBooks opened, found all my invoices and billing history and pulled it right in. I was able to get that information to my accountant and he was able to get taxes done in record time. EnterYourHour's.com has an in depth, easy to follow tutorial on their website, and I urge you to check it out, because once you do, you will realize the true power, and simplicity, of this system.
